Surface Prepration & Formwork

Surface preparation is the most important part of every project. The location of the pour must be prepared properly for drainage, electrical conduits, and runs for lighting.

With the ground landscaped, graded and compacted, we build strong and sturdy formwork. The formwork is also crucial and has to be complete to show the detail of concrete's cured finish and all proper steel has been laid or in-laid for strength.

The Pour

At this stage we have completed the surface preparation and formwork making sure it is approved and final. We accurately measure the amount concrete needed and then determine an exact price.

The price varies depending upon strength (MPA) and special fibres, amount of aggregate in the concrete, chemical ratios and color options. We then order the concrete and our team goes to work pouring and laying in the concrete to the finish the customer desired.

  • Smooth Troweled

Usually for inside residential and commercial floors, sub floors, radiant heat floors, offices, buildings etc.

  • Broom finish

for driveways, sidewalks, stairs, patios, anywhere you require more grip for walking on.

  • Exposed Aggregate

A decorative appearance where the rock is exposed, we can get very creative with different materials such as coloured glass, shapes of rock big or small, metals, plastics, marble, just about anything you can imagine!

  • Stamped Concrete

A decorative appearance giving the characteristics of slate, brick, stone, wood. Integral colouring and sealing enhances the look.

  • Foundations

    for homes, decks, patios, etc

Saw Cuts, Stripping of Formwork, Sealing

Saw Cuts give a more modern appearance and is critical for the curing and cracking the concrete may endure over its life time. It is a different option then cutting in during the pour, which is the classic method of control joint work and still highly used. The saw cuts should be done 2-4 days after the pour.

Stripping of the formwork is a delicate task and has to be done when the concrete is hard enough to not damage. Sometimes leaving the forms on longer the better. We generally can begin removing the formwork 3 or more days after the pour.

Sealing of concrete protects the finish from the elements and enhances the appearance giving it a high gloss, semi gloss or matte finish bringing out deep colour. Sealing is best done when concrete is fully cured after 28 days.

After Install, Home Owner Care

Once the install is completed, it is important to keep the concrete wet for 2-4 weeks to avoid cracking and allow proper curing. After that time only annual maintenance is necessary.
Regular Maintinenance includes:
  • Pressure Washing
  • Re-sealing
  • Interior Sealing and buffing
  • Daily maintenance with approved cleaners
